35 ME
My First roll of film from the Yashica 35 ME, last weeks purchase, turned out reasonably well. There were a lot of really bad pictures, and a few that proved that it was the workman and not the tool that was to blame. I will continue my quest.

Dude I just bought one of these cameras at the local 'Goodwill' store. Despite the large "THIS ITEM HAS NOT BEEN TESTED. SOLD AS IS." sticker, the sheer handsomeness of the camera and it's mere $6.50CAD sticker price saw me scooping it up.
It has place for a battery, do you know if I even need to use a battery, or is this only to control the flash I don't have?
Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Rhett

Rhett:
The ME requires the use of a S76 / LR44 or SR44 1.5 V battery.
The battery is required to make the electronics work - you set the distance manually - the camera sets the shutter speed.
If you don't have a battery, or if your electronics circuits are shot, you should still be able to take OK pictures in good conditions - there is a default shutter speed that works well on a sunny day at the beach.
In fact, I'm not sure if my electronics work the way they should, but I still get the odd good picture out of it.
