A busy week

My friend D used to explain the state of his car - a rubbish filled old VW with two dozen curly-wurly wrappers strewn across the floor - with the simple sentence: It’s been a busy week.

• Monday: O’s first day in creche. With mixed emotions we leave our young son into the care of the good people at the YMCA
• Tuesday: I pick up my Vespa from the garage. They’ve charged me 1/3 more than I expected and fucked up my indicator warning lights and petrol gauge.
• Wednesday: Creche send us a letter stating that they unfortunately are closing their doors in June. The building is sold and the staff have been given their notice.
• Thursday: Every childcare provider we call that is within reasonable distance have queues and waiting lists until mid-autumn.
• Friday: TESCO has run out of limes and lemons, making our gin&tonics bland and uninteresting.
