Are my parents now my birth parents?

Dear Mountie

Are my parents now my birth parents?

Dear Sam

Although you would like your mothers story to be true — the one about how she and your father met in the In-and-Out Burger in Sacramento back in ‘78, after which he took her to the roller skate palace (that burned down in ‘83 and has been replaced by public toilets and a 7-11) where he placed his tender lips upon her crimson-coloured cheek for the very first time — your real dad was the driver of the Public Library’s Bookmobile.

Your mother planned on seeing him again after that first fateful encounter, but she had an overdue library book that she didn’t want to pay the fine on.

Yours Truly
