a luncheon date

I mentioned a few weeks ago that we were in the process of re-instating a relationship with our friends that we lost contact with three years ago.

Yesterday we had lunch.

The funny thing was that even though the conversation took some effort and didn't flow as easily as we were use to, in the good old days, the afternoon was very pleasant.

Although the issue of why we went from closest friends to not communicating wasn't tackled right on we got some ideas of what might have caused the rift.

As they left in the early evening we could honestly say that it was nice to have had them over.

But there was no resolution, no closure, no explanation of the three year hiatus, in essence, it was not at all like it would have been in a movie.

If it would have been a movie you wouldn't show up after three years, have a reasonably nice lunch and leave, without it having been a moment of life (or at least plot ) changing magnitude. But that's exactly what it was, or wasn't like yesterday.

To be continued, I suppose.
