Spring Cleaning (but we still suck in safari)
Finally I have taken the time to make a few changes to the main template for eljestwhere
I promised myself to do most of this stuff about three months ago, but you have to dwell on these things, or it would be too easy. And if it’s easy - what’s the point of doing it in the first place.
I have added the welcome blurb I lost on the train, archives by category, links to my current top three must-reads and I’ve also painstakingly crafted descriptions for all the categories, or at least most of them.
I still have to get my head around why Safari and my interpretation of the CSS box model don’t seem to want to play nice.
But that’s for another day. As sure as eggs are eggs.

A moment of clarity (in vino veritas)
I have it figured out.
At least for a while the big question seems to have an answer.
The meaning of life is physical and intellectual stimulation
Read more books. Do more pushups.

Airplane Construction Kit
Have you lost your instruction manual for that 1989 Wooster Collector series aircraft?
Don’t worry. Here it is, online, for your convinience.

A month of sparse writing
It has been hard to write the last few weeks.
I have found my tolerance level for trivial and not so trivial matters decrease toward an all time low recently.
I curse loudly at inane television ads. I put down newspapers after having read just a few opening paragraphs, wanting to chastise the journalist for being so stereotypically lazy. I assaulted a teenage boy who dropped his half-eaten burger on the ground making me swerve to avoid getting mustard on my shoes. I am generally unpleasant to be around.
And I don’t write everyday like I used to. I can’t create anything to please my standards, so I’ve surrendered.
This morning when I woke up after a full nights sleep, however, I felt inclined to re-commence my publishing efforts.
Perhaps the discipline of writing everyday will make me more balanced. Maybe I’ll even stop shouting at the TV.

Smut
An innocent thought about the advantages and disadvantages of riding a bike to work seem to have been picked up by a strange porn portal, spidering the web for dubious phrases.

lost weekend
I’ve spent the weekend trying to get my email back after a mysterious crash which wiped all my mail, preferences, filters, custom scripts and whatnot. It’s all back in shape now - thanks to a strict backup regime, a small firewire drive and a lot of hard graft.
I feel a bit better now.
Oh, and it’s raining for the first time in over a month.

A busy week
My friend D used to explain the state of his car - a rubbish filled old VW with two dozen curly-wurly wrappers strewn across the floor - with the simple sentence: It’s been a busy week.
- Monday: O’s first day in creche. With mixed emotions we leave our young son into the care of the good people at the YMCA
- Tuesday: I pick up my Vespa from the garage. They’ve charged me 1/3 more than I expected and fucked up my indicator warning lights and petrol gauge.
- Wednesday: Creche send us a letter stating that they unfortunately are closing their doors in June. The building is sold and the staff have been given their notice.
- Thursday: Every childcare provider we call that is within reasonable distance have queues and waiting lists until mid-autumn.
- Friday: TESCO has run out of limes and lemons, making our gin&tonics bland and uninteresting.
